Jason Reso's success in professional wrestling can really, in a way, be traced back to his long-time friendship with Adam Copeland, otherwise known as Edge. Copeland began training for a wrestling career in 1992, and Reso followed in his footsteps two years later, training with Ron Hutchinson at Sully's Gym in Reso's home country of Canada in the fall of '94. Reso's determination to become a professional wrestler was strong, and he spent nearly nine months training at the gym to gain the skills necessary to succeed. Reso finally convinced Hutchinson to give him a shot, and made his debut against Zakk Wylde in June '95. The two men wrestled to a respectable draw, starting Reso out on his chosen profession.
