Bobby Lashley vs John Cena

Yesterday I was watching Fox News and caught most of the segment on Neil Cavuto’s show regarding the WWE’s planned trip to Iraq to entertain the troops (MsUnderestimated has video available). This is the 4th year they’ve done this and with each year it’s been a resounding success. John Cena and Bobby Lashley (a former U.S. Army Sergeant) were interviewed about their thoughts about the trip. One thing of note, none of the wrestlers and crew are mandated by Vincent K. McMahon to go. It’s strictly voluntary. However, the list of volunteers has always been longer than the available slots and WWE officials have the difficult task to deciding who won’t go. Military officials have embraced the WWE’s visits and worked the logistics with, if you’ll pardon the expression, military precision. Another thing I have noticed about the wrestlers at these shows for the troops: even though those men and women perform incredibly on television, each and every one of them who perform for the troops in Iraq get motivated to raise the bar on their performances. Therefore if you want to see probably one of the best performances from WWE wrestlers, I suggest watching WWE’s “Tribute To The Troops” shows if available (I’m not sure if a PPV will be made available however in past years one of their network shows originates from an undisclosed location in Iraq via tape-delay). The WWE has sections of their website devoted to “Tribute To The Troops” containing blogs from wrestler CM Punk and diva Maria. I don’t know how much of the blogs are kayfabe vs. non-kayfabe but they will still be worth reading. There are also photos and videos from last year’s tour as well.

Bobby Lashley vs Bob Sapp

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer first reported that Bobby Lashley will be taking on Bob Sapp on June 27th in Biloxi, Mississippi. Lashley then confirmed the rumor on his Twitter account. Lashley is a former WW3 professional wrestler, but he has real wrestling credentials as well. He was a 2-time NAIA wrestling champion and now trains with American Top Team. Sapp is a former NFL football player who became a fighting legend over in Japan. His fight with Antonio Nogueira is one of MMA's all time great fights and it's great to see Sapp steering away from Japanese pro wrestling back into MMA. This is definitely a big step up for Lashley, who is coming off a win over Jason Guida in Roy Jones Jr.'s March Badness show last month. It will be interesting to see how he deals with a guy as big and strong as Bob Sapp. More than likely this fight will be shown on PPV. Stay tuned for more details.

After getting his feet wet with several matches in both the WWE Raw and SmackDown! shows in 2005 and 2006, Lashley captured the WWE United States Championship by defeating rival competitor “JBL.” During this stint with the league and another in 2007, Lashley wrestled several top superstars, including The Big Show and John Cena.

Lashley made his MMA debut on December 13, 2008, earning a 41 second TKO over Joshua Franklin after Franklin sustained a cut that would not allow him to continue their fight.

Earlier this year, Lashley joined Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling. In his first appearance with the league on July 30, he helped tag team matchup partner Mick Foley defeat superstars Kurt Angle and Kevin Nash.

Bobby lashley

ECW Champion Bobby lashley announced that he has been discharged from WWE. But a WWE spokesman told that he has heard nothing about Lashley being released, and his bio still is up on WWE.com (WWE official website). There is no way to certain that this actually was confirmed by our team. Lashley has been out of action since last July due to shoulder injury.
